My female south African boerboel, preparing to come on heat. Whoop.

Things I have noticed about my boerboel (Bella)

Her Vulva is beginning to swell up she is very much active, playful and ready to attack stranger.

Each time I try to check her vulva she refuses me checking her. Bella is a year and by 25th of Feb, 2017 she will be a year and 2 month. It is advisable not to breed her on her first heat i.e she has immature eggs and preferably not her second if possible. Experts says it is better to breed on the third season, or at one and a half to two years of age.

As for Bella I have decided to breed her on her second heat which I have taken note of is beginning to pup up. Bella is becoming bigger and taller am kind of afraid that no male will be able to meet her as a result of her height I decided to cut down on her feeding to once in a day (every night) but ensure you provide her with enough water to avoid been tasty

Bella has been deworm to get her ready for breeding which will last till after her puppies have been delivered. I await her breeding and delivery soon.

One way your dog can contact Myiasis.

Myiasis (Maggot in Dog) can kill your pet if nothing is done fast. From my experience as a breeder Myiasis are infections contacted by your dog when beaten by bowfly as a result of your dog sleeping on urine.
Urine makes the body of your dog so soft that any open wound attract this bowfly who lay their eggs inside this open wounds which eventually leads to Myiasis. See a video by Dr. Nelson removing maggot from a dog. To watch this video click the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZq5SShlx-M
